Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Murasu' heads for south Andhra Pradesh coast

The system formed from a low-pressure area over the Andaman Sea and became a cyclonic storm on 1 November before intensifying. IMD issued a red warning for very heavy to extremely heavy rain over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and orange warnings for Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Telangana. Schools were closed on 2 November in Chennai and Tiruvallur, and fishermen were advised to stay off the sea.
