Kumar, currently Executive Director and Asset Manager of ONGC's Mehsana Asset, will succeed Arun Kumar Singh, whose extended tenure ends on 6 December 2026. He is the first executive in ONGC's history to move directly from the Executive Director rank to the top post. His tenure is three years — till superannuation on 31 December 2028 and then on contract.
