Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, which adjourned the petitions for four weeks. The petitions were filed in 2019 by the mothers of Rohith Vemula and Payal Tadvi. The court had earlier stayed the 2026 rules and restored the 2012 framework in the interim.
